The ShearXL machining facility is equipped with a comprehensive range of 3, 4 & 5 axis machining centres, varying in size from 400x510x430mm on a HAAS VF0 to our Matsuura 900HG with a machining window of 950x920x760mm.
We run the latest versions in CAD-CAM of GibbsCam, Solidworks and Edgecam allowing us to optimise our tool paths saving valuable time and ensuring parts are manufactured efficiently.
We have the facility for cylinder liner fitment, line boring of main bearing journal bores, pressure testing and assembly. This along with dedicated project management from concept to completion ensures a timely delivery and allows our customers to have a complete manufacturing solution.

Our fully equipped temperature controlled inspection department allows us to carry out ‘First Off’, ‘Stage’ and ‘Final’ inspection to each individual customers’ specific requirements.
We have fully automated Mitutoya CMM machines running the very latest version of PC-DMIS coupled with highly skilled CMM engineers, who, having worked in many industries, ensure we fully recognise the importance of precision measurement and quality control. Whatever your requirement, ShearXL can produce detailed reports such as F.A.I.R, ISIR and PPAP.
Broken drill / Tap removal
SXL offer the removal of those annoying broken drills and taps that have snapped in what can be expensive components whilst machining. We can offer a same day service for your urgent requirements that are holding up production or are potentially scrapping an expensive workpiece.
The TR100 is a fast and efficient way of removing broken drills and taps without any damage to the host component. This portable unit uses a single phase power supply and ordinary tap water as the dielectric medium to achieve cost effective results.
